A clothing line with a model from Lahore was recently chastised for filming near a Gurdwara in Kartarpur. The company was accused of not honouring the sanctity of the holy place.

The disrespect was quickly noticed by the Sikh community. A Sikh journalist resorted to Twitter to express his displeasure with the fashion brand’s disrespect of the Sikh community. The journalist tagged the Prime Minister and Minister for Religious affairs of Pakistan in his tweet.

The model was seen shooting bareheaded in the holy place of Kartarpur. Such an act is detested by every religious group, be it sikh, Christian or Muslim. The news didn’t take much time to swarm over the internet.

The President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management committee, too, condemned the act. He took to his twitter saying; “Modelling at Sri Kartarpur Sahib is desecration. Pakistan court issued arrest warrant of star who did dance video at Mosque; same must be done against this woman from Lahore as an example of treating all religion at par.”

Many prestigious entities tweeted to detest the disrespect of Kartarpur Gurdwara. The chief minister of Punjab also addressed the matter by claiming to take legal action on it.

After all the naming and shaming, the brand removed the pictures of the shoot in kartarpur from its Instagram page and publicly apologized for hurting the sikh community of Pakistan.

The model has also apologized, saying it was not the intention to do so and will be careful in the future. Both the brand and model have clarified that it was not an ad campaign, and they understand the significance of Gurdwara.
